A wonderful concert and plans for next term and beyond

Dear musicians,

Thanks for a wonderful concert back on 27th and sorry for the delay in sending my thanks. It was a super day and the level of playing at the concert was really excellent. I enjoyed so much hearing the winds playing the Raff and hope that we can build in a regular wind feature so that you are not always hidden behind all us string players!

The new term brings excitement and gorgeous music but also the challenge of finding the right conductor to carry on Thomas’ excellent work and take us to the next level. Please do get in touch with any suggestions of conductors who you think would fit best with us. In the first 2 rehearsals of the term I hope to invite any interested conductors to work with us and to get feedback from the group and then we can decide who to trial for the term.

Our programme this coming term will be Beethoven piano concerto number 5 ”Emperor’ (soloist Anna Tetsuya) and Brahms ‘Haydn variations’.

Rehearsals start on September 10th and our concert is on 21st November.

I will also shortly be emailing any existing members of our focus group as well as musicians who are interested in joining the group to arrange a meet up over a drink so please do get in touch if you would like to be a part of this core group and haven’t expressed an interest yet.

I look forward to another wonderful term in the autumn and in the mean time wish you a restful summer break.

All best wishes, Abi
